Unique and individually made
My name is Tara Shetterly. I became a wheelchair user when I was 16 due to a Spinal Cord Injury. Ever since, I have been finding ways to decorate my wheelchair to make it more personal and stylish. Eventually, I learned how to make wheel covers by hand and decided to sell my wheel art for more affordable rates!
Please reach out to tarashettbusiness@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Yes! The material is a form of plastic, so it is safe to get wet.
Each wheel cover comes with 4 bottom strips of velcro attached to the backside and 4 top strips that layer on top of the wheel's spokes. Because it is reusable velcro, you can easily attach and remove the wheel covers. I also have a short Youtube video showing how to attach the wheel covers for reference. Click to watch the video here.
Please measure your wheelchair wheels' diameter from the inside of the push rims. The wheel covers need to fit in this space, without obstructing your push rims. I will cut the wheel covers to be a bit smaller than the exact diameter of your wheels, so please do not account for this yourself. Just measure your diameter measurement as exact as possible and allow me do the rest! I have also made a short video explaining where to measure. Click to watch the video here.
The material that is used is super lightweight. It will not add a noticeable amount of weight. It is also only 2mm wide, meaning it will not add width to a manual wheelchair either.
Unfortunately because these wheel covers are being hand painted and designed instead of being machine printed, the wheel is not fully scratch-proof. However, all designs are sealed with a clear protective material so it is scratch-resistant. That is what creates the shiny finish. However, the sealant takes up to 28 days to fully set, so please try to be a little more gentle with the covers at first!
Each wheel cover is uniquely priced, taking into account which specific materials are needed and how much time it takes for me to complete the design; hence why some designs are more affordable than others. Thank you for your understanding.
At this time, I am offering free US shipping on orders when the total reaches $150.
I am open to discussing any custom requests. I might not be able to complete every custom design request as I am not digitally printing designs, but you are welcome to email me at WheelsByTara@gmail.com to request. However, custom designs may be subject to custom pricing.
I will regularly be adding new design options as more time goes on. For example, I may post a few Halloween designs when the season nears. To stay updated on new design releases, you are welcome to subscribe to my newsletter so you don't miss out on any new or limited- time-only products.
I hand make every set of wheel covers after they've been ordered. Due to the custom sizing options required, they cannot be made until they have been ordered, meaning they won't be available to get shipped until about a week after ordering at the soonest. Additionally, the sealant I use to protect the paint takes up to a month to fully 'cure.' They can be used before then, but it will take up to a month to become completely protected. For these reasons, I recommend ordering as soon as possible if you need the covers for a specific date. Your patience is appreciated!
